Are they MAD?
This is the new site for the post office in Droylsden. Now then... Looking at this, i am concerned. Where a post office appears so do pensioners with disabled badges in ther cars. Now i have nothing against disbaled badges, but the way Droyslden is at the moment, a load of cars parked up outside this building will cause chaos next to the lights. Who thinks of these things, really! If this was a cab company it would have been refused permission. There will be more people stopping outside this building to "nip" in than you would see parked outside a cab company. Can't wait to sit there sounding the horn wating for them to come out and abuse me lol.
I took this yesterday when i had time to wait, Yes time to wait, on the 218.
Not today i won't. the 5km diversion starts today. I'm the second one through it at 850am from the Hospital. Should be a nice ride out. Might try to get a pic of a 218 next to Greenfield station as a momento. First are only running to top Mossley and asking people to walk down to a shuttle bus so i am expecting the 217s 218s to be very profitable with free passes this week. It was however, very hard to keep time on there yesterday so we have no chance this week in rush hour. We will end up taking 216s off to cover and once again draught in the Princess road massive to cover some 216 trips which, like yestersday, went to the dogs once more. I'm so glad i don't live down there and have to use that bus it really is horrid for the people. And there is nothing we can do to make it any easier.....Very poor.

Regarding 217/218s dont forget also from Monday Edge Lane is being closed until the end of the year at the earliest for Metrolink Preparation works, so thats at least 2 diversions on 217/218 to contend with, promises to be a fun couple of weeks at Stagecoach Ashton
ReplyDeleteThe S50 was dominated today with new passengers, i think it follows your diversion...First have really shot themselves in the foot
ReplyDeleteIt's the other side of edge land thats shutting not our side luckily. Our buses are about 15 mins down at the moment. Hard work though even for me, and i'm being pretty swift today lol
ReplyDeleteIs the diversion the one due to Stamford Road being closed? Do First really expect folk to walk between Top Mossley and Bottom Mossley? Does anyone at Wallshaw St know Mossley?
ReplyDeleteAs for the new Post Office at Droylsden that area is bad enough without the roadworks let alone the abused disabled badges. Lets hope the jobs worth Community Officers have plenty of blanks penalty forms!
There seems to be alot of works in Greater manchester, although I see the point of doing everything at once it does grind everything to a halt.
ReplyDeleteThe post office in Mossley doesnt have as many cars but more vans....alot worse for bus & lorry drivers.
Keep up the good work Oldham100, today the 217/8's go nowhere near mossley lol
First are running a shuttle bus between the hospital and top mossley which runs every 10 minutes ish. The 350 is going to the hospital and then down darnton road then along Huddersfield road to bottom Mossley then onto normal route. The route we are doing is not practical and will make all the buses run very late.
ReplyDeleteI had to go on it today (the diverted 350) on and alot of people where very angry, mainly because they had to go through that long diversion through Heyrod and still end up walking from Micklehurst...ahwell, atleast schools are closed (Mobile phone music down by 99%...YES!!!)
ReplyDeleteI meant walk from Micklehurst...the problem is though the shuttle bus stops at 6...leaving any punters who need to get from Ashton to Mossley out of options because...
ReplyDelete-S50 hasnt started evening journeys
-217 stops at the hospital only by 6-ish
-353 diverted to not go through top mossley at all...
like I said, First shot themselves in the foot
First's shuttle between Tameside Hospital and Top Mossley is only every 20 minutes. The driver yesterday was telling passengers wanting to go to Ashton to get on the Speedwell bus behind. When they find out the fare is only a pound they'll be waiting for it next week! As someone said - First have shot themselves in the foot!
ReplyDeleteThe 350 diversion isn't even serving Bottom Mossley - it is turning onto Egmont Street and going straight to Micklehurst.
Passengers waiting at the stops on Manchester Road still had the S50 and 218, luckily. Maybe that's was First was relying on. In other words, the chosen diversion was to suit them, not their customers.
The good news was that the contractors opened the road up when they finished work last night, so buses were able to use Stamford Road after around 4.30. I don't think all the bus drivers knew that, though! I don't know whether they will open it again tonight.
First must have had loads of complaints because the 350 is now following the "normal" diversion via Greenfield Station today!
