Slight error here.

Been on the 216s today and i thought i would come back to this shop on the new road to post the picture. I'm out on the bike at the moment, i think someone has made a little error in the spelling on the shop front. Made me chuckle anyway. Not sure where i am off too. Don't think it's too far though as i can't seem to find my water bottles so no mountains today.

  2. Speedwell's S49 will be using stand F in Ashton Bus station when it starts next month. This should work in its favour as its directly opposite the 409 stand which is stand B on Sundays. Doubt the weekday service will be there thoough.

I have seen a few different buses working from both Hyde Road and Ashton recently, that used to work from Princess Road. Presumably they're starting to slim down before they move to the new slightly smaller depot at Sharston.

  7. No slimming down yet. Princess road no longer do the 256 and 15 so because they got the 42 and all the green buses others can go elsewhere. Not sure how many are going to wales on Monday though but they will be good buses. No crap ones lol

  10. I guess 15381 is still parked at the far end of the yard I went on it once when new to Maynes and it was a nice ride

  11. All the Mayne's Scania's were nice while with Mayne's, its just a shame that Stagecoach let them go really.
Is 15381 still in working order, ive always presumed it was withdrawn from service because of a mechanical fault.

  12. the one still in our yard is awaiting transport to trafford park. It was going the other week but the towing bar broke so it needs to be fixed. Engine is fine just no tax or mot anymore on it so it can't be driven there. They were horrid to drive. The best one was maynes 12 and 13. I remember them being delivered. 13 had the coach seats and was used on the 460 matlock summer sunday service. Although the bristol they used before it was a nice ride too.

  14. Im surprised theres nothing wrong with the Mayne's Scania. Theres still at least 5 Mayne's Scania's dotted around in Manchester with Stagecoach, i just wonder what they will do with them.

I remember 12 and 13 as well as the coach seats which took a battering from us at school, although only the downstairs had coach seats which were ripped out and replaced with them horrid plastic seats a few years back.
Intresting comments about the Bristol VR's. The VR's were bought for there new express service to Glossop which used the motorway, it didn't last long lol, but i know they were hated by the Mayne's drivers and they soon went, interestingly one is still in use at Hedgebasten as a school bus.

  17. I will have a walk down the canal to have a look see if 15381 is still there

I remember the Fleetlines mayne had LRJ 210P solidered on long after the others had gone and I remember that Lepord Coach MJI 5766 which was used in service

  18. Yep and of course one of the Fleetlines were scrapped in the late 80's only to return to Tameside workinng for Stuarts.

I take it these buses are being taken to Trafford park before being sold on.

  19. I would guess so wonder if they will remove 15383 from Glossop

15381 has been moved in the AZ yard and 16189 put where it was 40660 is still sat there

    ReplyDelete
  20. 40660 is still a regular out in service in Glossop, and of course on Corronation Street so carn't see that one going anywhere lol.

It sounds like they are all about to be sold or cascaded.

  21. that clears that up have they sold Glossop depot yet

    lastest list gives dragons 15181/2/3/6/7/96/7/9

  22. No, Glossop is still up for sale i belive.

Thats interesting regarding the Speedwell Olympian as Speedwell themselves ruled out ever using one of there exsisitng deckers on the S50. Was it in Ashton Mic?

    ReplyDelete
  23. yes it was packed up but not been used I think it was for the drivers

I have seen one one the short solos on the 343 this week

    ReplyDelete
  24. That sounds right, they normally have a bus parked outside the bus station all day that drivers use as a staff room. Yesterday it was one of the blue Thamesdown Olympian's. Just strange that it had S50 on the blind though.
