My photo uploads as i travel around.
Great pictures from a great camera
That second shot is Bowlacre Home. I did a post about it recently http://hydedailyphoto.blogspot.com/2010/05/bowlacre-home.html
just seen 22139 leaving ashton at 245pm for piccadilly on the 219 is this something new as 22139 is an ashton bus? good pictures of apethorn lane a fried of mine lives there and some evenings feeds badgers in their back garden.
ps friend of mine
just heard from speedwell they have lost the contracts for the 353/54 services not sure who is taking over I think stotts should get it they have some low floor solo buses
Really... Blimey thats not good they run that service so well with the same drivers. Thats a real shame,
I know but on the same day the S48 goes to 3 buses an hour so lets hope it does well and I like your stagecoach double deckers they are good
The Enviros are ok. Nothing Special though. I dont fnd them comfy to travel on anyway.
first buses arrows at Ashton are now a total of 5 now I prefer the volvo double decks they have just got 34252 which was exchanged with 31924 which is at Bolton nowI see first west yorkshire have loads of new buses
Its between Stott's and First surly. It wouldn't surprise me if First had put in a very cheeky low price just to get one over on Speedwell. Its a shame because Speedwell had promised if they won back the contracts they would improve the vehicles used on them services but it looks like its too little too late. The Enviro 400's are terrible buses to travel on. Im over 6ft tall and have to sit sideways just to be comfortable. Badly designed buses.
The only problem with Stagecoach's Enviro 400s is that they like most operators have gone for the low-height version, having travelled on a couple of full heigh Enviro 400s I can honestly say that they arent tood bad its just that other operators wont go for the full heigh version. The same is said for ALX400s Finglands have got a couple of full height ALX400s and I prefer to travel on them then Stagecoach's low-height version
I think it will be stotts that get it firstbus run the evening services and sunday ones
That dosen't mean First wont get it. I would hope it is Stott's but im pretty sure Checkmate have had the 353/4 services in the past. Perhaps its them.
I didn't know there was a full high version. Ours are 13' 10" how high are the others? I did enquire with a few speedwell drivers and they know nothing about losing the saddleworth services. I have not had chance to go look in the forums yet but i think it's a bad call by whoever has made the decision to take it off them.
Its not been taken off them as such. The tenders were up for renewal and another operator must have offered to run the 353/4 for a cheaper amount than Speedwell.Theres been many discussions recently about the cheapest amount not always being the best, but at the end of the day its tax payers money thats paying for these services so we should be happy.
yes checkmate did use to run it they have 4 buses 1 used for schools and one for the 418 I remember when they started the 352 to Denshaw and that little bus that looked like an ice cream van
Yes they had some very odd little buses including that little bus that looked like a vehicle used to transport the pope about lol.Checkmate have just registered two services running from Uppermill and Greenfield to Dovestones from July. I think its just a weekend service running until the end of August.
I bet that it is because you have to pay to park at both car parks now loads of drivers are using the laybyit would be good to see the summer service 430 to Holmfirth brough back when the 180 went to Huddersfield the buses kept breaking down on the moors 5050 being the oldest to do so
Personally, I hope Speedwell retain it but you never know. I doubt it's checkmate...seeing as they're running 100 routes with 5 buses at the moment...or it's first because if it is a two finger salute then it's a waste of time...Stagecoach, now it wouldn't be a surprise, but it would be nice to see if Ashton obtained Solo's or E200's for them...The front runners are surely Stott's or JPT though, most likely stotts but JPT do the 343 so don't count them out
oh...and checkmate are running a new Mossley to Manchester service...the C20...one journey there and back but i'm not sure what this is i.e. a tester, another "no frills" etc but I am still unsure about why they're going for it?
who ever gets it good luck to them I remember when Glossop depot back in Pte days ran them with the Nationals the 101 to 70 batch the one to be withdrawn last was 132 JNA 588 N at Oldham depot
speedwell up their S48 service in July to 3 buses an hour they are getting another bus like KX 54 NKG
