The odd couple

As most will know the b10 is normally out on taxi duties around ashton. At the moment it's route learning new drivers. It's soon to be gone though. The replacement is the stagecoach lancs dart which i posted the other day. Just started work. 5am a little early but i'm finished by 1230 which is nice.

  1. It's going? for the scrap... or passed to Liverpool lol

It's a shame really, I thought they'd do well for Magic Bus

magic bus are going through the process of converting to a completely low-floor fleet too, adding another B10M will just be a step backwards, which is a shame because they're fantastic buses.

  3. I think the remaining B10M's are being cascaded to other Stagecoach fleets. A couple that were stored at Hyde road recently went up to Scotland for further PCV use and two more went to oxford [i think] as driver trainers.
It will be ashame though to see the last remaining 'active' B10M go.

I was told the Magic fleet should be completley low floor by this October, the same time the new Hybrid Envrios are due to arrive, so i would think some more of the ALX Tridents will be painted into blue, although apparently some of the Magic Olympians will remain for school services.

Blimey, we know we're not doing badly at all when the Magic Bus operation gets converted to newer low-floor buses, when in every other area of Stagecoach UK Bus, step-entrance buses live on in normal service (albeit alongside low floor buses)!

At this rate, I wonder when the first Enviro400 gets given the Magic treatment! I think Stagecoach Manchester have more Enviro400s than they know what to do with.

Shame that the last Volvo B10M is leaving normal service with Stagecoach Manchester though, I wish it well wherever it gets to and will always have fond memories of the type, up to just those few years ago when they were still ubiquitous.

  5. I won't miss the on/off operation of the brakes !!
I did a bit of pre employment route learning today, i did a 169 there and back, still as difficult as i remember (tight turns and parked cars)but i did remember most of the route. drivers changed at mount rd,and i was having a good natter with the 2nd driver at the cemetry, and he was suprised that Ashton do the 169 , but im sure that busman has mentioned doing them on here, I have read back months, gleaning all the services mentioned by him as being run by Ashton depot. Im hoping to get on a 7 before i start monday, i believe that goes everywhere!

  10. If thats one of the ALX Tridents Mic then yes it was painted back into normal livery about a month ago.

It seems stagecoach carn't make up there mind over what they want blue and what they want white as it was only painted into blue last November lol.
