All gone

This is the ex row of shops and pub at the junction of crickets lane and penny meadow in ashton. Always an eyesore really although i didn't think they warrented pulling down. I'm not sure if it's part of a bigger plan as there are some works going on further down near the station. Will see in time i'm sure. Just off to work on a split duty today which means a trip to the gym inbetween shame i have 216 on the back half as they ain't the nicest thing to do on a friday afternoon. Found out the 217 218 details yesterday too. They are covering mossley still just not serving piccadilly. Instead using shude hill, church street, lever street and onwards up oldham road. Also i believe there are extra buses going on there although i'm not sure how many. Someone mentioned doubling to make it a 30 minute service on both routes. Hardly any need in my opinion!

  1. It will be for the ashton bypass, down by the station , they are building a reinforced wall, and pinching some of the car park, for the road.I think it is going to flyover henrietta st by the look of the footings they are doing, then land just behind carpet giant,up the back of penny meadow, through the old school house, and it must exit at the junction you are talking about , to spit the traffic onto the roundabout!

  2. Yep Bypass, and will bring about world peace according to the council lol

Talking of 'Gone', any idea where one of my local bus stops has gone?

  3. I use the train to get to and from Ashton to Mossley in the week due to so much traffic jams up mossley road

  4. The lights now have pedestrian buttons and the bus covered the crossing. So it had to go for good.

  5. 217/8 every 30 minutes, Mossley would then have 11 buses an hour to Ashton, 21 if you count Firsts 'floaters' lol

The Bypass is due to be ready by September, after numerous issues with purchasing the mosque but done and dusted. It's meant to be a dual carriage way with cycle lanes so hopefully it should help ease the morning congestion I've put up with for several years lol

  6. TMBC and World peace in the same sentence!
Thats funny! Anyway , it's a brand new council with a new captain at the helm!

  7. Hardly a brand new captain. Hes been the face of TMBC for many years and has always had his eye on the top job. Pity he had to shaft the old captian in the process.

They said the bypass over Ashton Moss would cut down on congestion on Manchester Road towards Ashton, but its still a rat run if your running in towards Ashton past the Ford Garage so that never worked.

So will Speedwell be running 4 buses on the 343 instead of 3?

  9. On the subject of First. I notice that there older Solo's from Oldham depot are having there Dot Matrix destination boards replaced with LED displays. Seems a bit pointless to me.
