Just started. Got a week of earlier this week starting today. 3 trips on a 216 then glossop later. It's the second 216 into town so should be a busy trip. There houses in the picture have affo boarded up for a long time. They used to be council offices for a while i think not sure what the plan now for them is. Would make a good canteen when we next expand in ashton. Today sees the manchester derby luckily at old trafford so we shouldn't have too many problems on the 216 today although the diversion out of town is still on so we will see.
Looks nice and quiet in Ashton in that photo, I'm off to Meadowhall for the annual Transport Rally upthere today, so should be a good day, enjoy your Glossops later though
ReplyDeleteI believe there is another on merseyside too. I'll just stay and keep manchester running for the day.
ReplyDeleteCome on you Reds!! Glossop here we come 18/12/09 until 4/1/10 cannot wait. Hopefully it's going to be lovely and cold. Sorry guys couldn't help that, it's been a really hot day today and Spring has only just begun. It's going to be a long and very hot summer.
ReplyDeletewhere this building is it's the site for the Metrolink station.(when it does eventually arrive)
ReplyDeleteIs "affo" predictive textspeak for "been"? :)
ReplyDeleteYes martin it is lol. Not sure where the metro is going. I hear somewhere different every month.
ReplyDeleteactually, the metrolink stop is next to the houses (on the small empty bit of land).
ReplyDeleteI did a temporary internship with Tameside Council (transportation and traffic management) and they plan to rebuild Ashton Bus station (...again) to have a large circular station, sort of like oldhams except it's one long version.
The idea is meant to be funded from the £1.4 Billion TiF bid and should be approved after construction of the Ashton Northern Bypass stage 2. Also, if and when its approved, the metrolink terminus will be slap bang in the middle of the station for easy access. But if it doesn't then it will remain next to the small buildings
Oh and Btw, the Metrolink has been approved and funded up to Ashton but the Treasury can pull it,so Tameside are in the middle of getting a secure bond for it so the cash can't be pulled.
Sorry it was long but this is the easiest I can make it sound
