One of the best parts of this job is the ability to swap shifts with other people. I should have been starting at 5am this morning but opted for 1pm instead. On the 346 at the moment at gee cross terminus. It's interesting this route so much that the only part that is tendered is the gee cross to hyde section. So if this doesn't run for whatever reason we have to cover that short section only. Off glossop when i get back to ashton and then a trip on the roadworks express to piccadilly and back. Not a bad day actually.
Didn't know that the tiny section was tendered. Will it be the same for the 389 when that changes at the end of August?
ReplyDeleteNoticed some Enviro 400s on the 346 OAP bus recently. Most underused upstairs on any route ever??!!
Im not sure about the 389. I know we are only going to Gee Cross and Arriva are doing the Stockport - Gee Cross section which i find extremly odd. The reason for the Enviros is probably because the schools are off. The buses on the 346 also do the 236 237 throughout the day. If we have Enviros left in the depot which normally do extra peak time work in the morning or evening, But are not used because of the holidays, then we put them out on other routes. which is probably why you see a 1/8th full bus on the 346. but on the next trip to glossop it may be full.

ReplyDeleteI think Arriva are just doing Stocckport - Greave as the 386 (of old). They're also doing the 380 and 381 which I always thought were pretty busy.
Im not too well up on stockport routes to be honest but still seems odd to split a route. I dont even know is first are still doing the 389 to hyde through the day. Just read somewhere though that speedwell are dropping there routes from the 3rd October. Will find out more later.
